THE RESIDENCE: As the name suggests, the house is sited atop a gentle hill, which affords views of sweeping vistas to all sides. The original 18th century structure has been seamlessly enlarged, with careful attention to detail. A flagstone terrace lines the back of the house, and steps lead down to the mature beds. A walled boxwood garden with pea-gravel walkway is the centerpiece. There is an historic smoke house nestled into the stone walls, which surround the back lawns. Dining Room (18’ x 13’6”) is classic in its simple elegance with woodpaneled fireplace, chair rails, and detailed molding. French doors open directly onto the back terrace, a swinging door leads to the kitchen. Kitchen (18’6” x 14’6”) has all the charm of a classic country kitchen: a large bay window over the sink, granite countertops, custom cabinetry, and professional-quality appliances such as a Thermador range with grill, griddle and double ovens. The back porch steps down to a flagstone breezeway that leads to the 3-car garage. Master Bedroom 2 (15’6” x 13’6”) has lovely views to the north through a bay window complete with window seat. With his and hers closets—one a walk-in with built-in storage and racks.
